Echidna
The short-beaked Echidna is said to be one of the most elusive Australian animals and one of the most unique. Found across all parts of Australia, it has an incredibly long tongue, backwards facing rear feet and are only one of two egg laying mammals, known as a "monotreme".
This image came from a chance encounter with a wild Echidna who was very comfortable going about its business seeking out ants, while I quietly moved around it to take it's photo!
I’ve not seen any other image that captures this perspective of an Echidna and so I’m incredibly proud of it.
